F Visas
Study in the United States
The F visa is a nonimmigrant visa for individuals who want to study in the United States. It is available for students attending academic institutions such as universities, colleges, high schools, private elementary schools, and language training programs.
TYPES OF F VISAS
F-1 Visa
For academic students enrolled in full-time studies.
F-2 Visa
For dependents (spouse and unmarried children under 21) of F-1 visa holders.
F-3 Visa
For students living in a border country (Mexico or Canada) who commute to a U.S. school.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
• Acceptance by a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-approved school.
• Enrollment in a full-time academic program.
• Proof of sufficient financial resources to cover tuition and living expenses.
• Demonstration of strong ties to your home country to show your intention to return after completing your studies.
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS
• Form I-20 issued by the SEVP-approved school.
• Completed DS-160 form (Nonimmigrant Visa Application).
• Valid passport.
• Proof of financial support.
• Payment of the SEVIS fee.
